Air New Zealand offers new enhancements for babies
Flying on Air New Zealand is now a more relaxed adventure for the little ones and for the parents. The airliner has opened more options for the young travelers. The Skycouch is getting an upgrade that will make traveling with babies and little children less stressful.
Skycouch is an innovation introduced by Air New Zealand in 2011. This is a row of three seats that turn into a flat, flexible surface for a more comfortable rest.
This mechanism has truly revolutionized long-haul traveling, making the journey a lot more comfortable. Air New Zealand is now introducing some new features to make this economy class perk even better. They are installing a dedicated infant harness and belt in such a way that infants remain lying down during the cruise part of a flight. Before, infants were required to be seated on the lap of their parents with seatbelts on when the sign was on.
Besides this, the company is also adding a new infant pod to provide more comfort to the younger ones. More flexibility is provided on the SkyCouch Cuddle Belt, where only two adults or an adult and a child were allowed to use. Now, it will allow two children to use it providing more comfort for families.
General Manager Customer Experience Anita Hawthorne hopes that the changes will be popular with families.
"The Skycouch has proven to be a real game-changer in the Economy cabin. While we initially marketed it to couples, we quickly found the product suited parents with young families especially well. Parents can relax while their children are able to have their own space and flat area to play without interrupting other passengers.
"Through this process, we've spoken to many customers who have traveled on the Skycouch and their feedback has helped to inform the updates and refinements we’re introducing this year."
Air New Zealand presented the updated SkyCouch at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg from 10-12 April 2018.
